Earlier this week I posed a question to a group of business owners;
“What are you currently putting up with that you would like to change?”
The responses were numerous and varied but there was a common thread, when it comes to changing habits there is no quick fix, it can be tough and often we chose to ignore them and do something else rather than address them.
Yet so often it is these habits which could be holding us back from achieving bigger ambitions, health goals or business objectives.
Where to start?
Well, in words of Steven Covey “Begin with the end in mind.”
No matter how big or small your project, you need to have a clear vision of what you want to achieve.
Consider when you are planning a car journey, if you have the postcode for a destination you have a better chance of getting there quicker and easier than if you have just a vague landmark in mind.
Whatever you have decided to work on, whether it’s a long-term project linked to your business, a health and wellbeing programme, a change in negative thought patterns or something else, are you clear about what you really want to achieve?
Think about a time in the future when everything relating to your project or goal is just as you want it to be, this is your 10/10.
- What can you see happening?
- How will you know that everything is as it should be?
- How do you feel when you wake up in the morning?
- What will be the best thing that’s going to happen when you achieve this goal?
- What are the benefits to you of getting resolution in this area?
- When is this?
Consider how will you capture these thoughts and create a clear vision of what you want to achieve.
